Series : Biblical Vision Explanation
"God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specially
armed you to go through it, not without pain but without stain." – C.S. Lewis
If
there was a topic that I could preach on which flies in the face of modern “feel
good preaching” it would be the topic of God’s sanctification tool known as
tribulation. Tribulation isn’t always persecution necessarily; it is more the
idea of a trying time. Probably the most common non-persecution type of
tribulation in the Bible is the famine.
In
our Gospel communities if they are to be healthy we are to have a healthy
understanding of what the Christ truly promised us, and not the hype of man
made Worship. Jesus never promised us a “good time” or “material blessings that
we might claim.” Jesus promised the direct opposite to these false Gospels (Mat. 10:16.) If Jesus the king of the universe was
not living within a “claimed blessed life” then why should we think that we’ll
get anything different. If we remain focused on Christ’s life and the Cross, we
will remain God centered and properly ready for the Kingdom’s sake (Matt. 27:24-3.)
We
are called Christian’s for we are to be like Christ. In Mathew 10:16-25 Jesus reminds the believers
that they are chosen by him, for a purpose of making him Known. The manner in
which they are given the chance to make Him known is through persecution. So
when these trials come, we must remember the purpose for them, and our task in
spite of them (2
Cor. 1:9-11; 12:9-10; James
1:2-4;
Romans 5:1-5.)
